Feature of the week:
Kaka's doubt
Hari Sitaram Dixit, also known as Kaka dixit is one of the most eminent devotees of Sri Saibaba. Refered to as "pure gold" in Shri Sai Satcharitha, Kaka was a very humble devotee of Baba who after meeting Baba, didn't look back and dedicated his life to serving Baba. A person of multifaceted talents, Dixit was instrumental in coercing the divided opinions after Sri Sai's mahasamadhi and coordinating activities that would later becomes the Saibaba Sansthan. Kaka is known to have even suggested the tweaks to the ballads of Dasganu Maharaj, another eminent erudite devotee of Baba. When Dasganu wrote in his stanzas, Raham nazar karo ab more Sayee….Saathi akhir ka kiya na koyee (contextually meaning, I do not have anyone as a recourse), Kaka Dixit suggested that it would be more apt to say, "Saathi akhir ka Tum bin koyee (Sayee, I have none as a recourse except you). Such was Dixit's faith and confidence in his Guru, Sri Saibaba. However, Kaka came down with his own doubts about his recourse during a parayana of Eknathi Bhagavath as he lamented if one would ever be able to attain the devotion of Nathas or Siddhas as explained in the book (Sri Satcharitha, ch. 45). This happened in spite of Shama's assurance that there is no need of anxiety when we have someone like Sri Saibaba as Guru. This did not satisfy Kaka and eventually, it was Anandrao Pakhade's dream that put his mind to rest. The above incident illustrates that nobody is immune to the perils of self-doubt and uncertainty. Faith is no faith unless it is tested. While it was an experience during parayana for Kaka, it is some other situation for others. Experiences that we go through should make us understand that faith cannot be deciphered through logic, during situations of doubts and uncertainties one need to just believe, and wait with confidence.
Contributed Article: Sai Baba's Crow
Abdul was a resident of Nanded. From his sixteenth year, he was serving Fakir Amiruddin, a saint of Nanded. In the year 1889, Baba appeared in a dream of Amiruddin, put two mangoes in his hands, and asked him to send Abdul to him. When Amiruddin woke up, he really found two mangoes in his hands. He gave them to Abdul, and asked him to go to Shirdi and be in the service of Sai Baba. Abdul came immediately to Shirdi. On seeing him, Baba said that his crow had come. Baba asked him to do his service without any other thoughts. From then onwards Abdul kept the mosque and adjoining places clean and the paths on which Baba walked. He cleaned the lanterns in the mosque, not forgetting Lendi Bagh. In his leisure time, he sat near Baba and read the Quran. He put two pots of water near the Nanda Deep in Lendi Bagh. Baba set in the evenings daily at a fixed time near Nanda Deep. He took water in his hands from the pots and reading something sprinkled the water on all sides. After that, he got up and looked seriously in all directions in which water was sprinkled. Devotees used to think that by his actions, Baba was protecting his devotees who were there on all sides. One whole night Abdul knelt down and put his hands on his head and Baba asked him whether he wanted to see the moon. After remaining in that position for sometime, Abdul fell on Baba sleepy. Baba woke him up and told him that he would show him the moon. Next day afternoon, when Abdul took water in his hands, he found the image of the moon in the water. Abdul also washed the clothes of Baba daily in the nearby rivulet and kept them neat.
Devotee Sai Devotee Sai Devotee About three months back -after I was told that my contract wouldn't be renewed- I had applied for a position in another department in the same institution. I had got an interview call and before attending the interview my husband and I had prayed at the Baba's temple in Singapore seeking his blessings and guidance in this hour of darkness. The interview had gone well and I had forgotten about it as I had not heard from them for almost three months. My last day with the current contract was 9th Jan 2009 and I had a call on the 30th Dec 2008 intimating me that I was selected and could join duty on the 19th Jan 2009 without a break of service. What is even more amazing is that His leela had secured me a two year contract with a higher salary. Isn't this amazing that I am offered a job with such benefits during these crisis times when people are loosing jobs? Our only hope was Him and He has taken us across the ocean of troubled waters. My husband and I would like to thank Baba for his leelas and pray to him to take care & protect all of us at all times. Quotation of the Week:
"Wealth should be the means to work out Dharma. If it is used for personal enjoyment, it is wasted. Unless you have given it before, you do not get it now. So the best way to receive is to give. Give one and receive tenfold".-Sri Sai Baba
Q. What is the attitude of Sai devotees towards raising their children? A. by Manav Sharma Sai Devotees, who have attained Sai by the way of following Sai's preaching and ways, have different outlook to life then the normal orthodox outlook. Sai devotees do not believe in castes or religion. They have a different way of living and that is Saism. Consequently, these devotees teach the same principles and way of life to their children. Some of the principles which Sai devotees obey and teach to their children are: a) Do not criticize and think bad about others b) treat every one as equal c) Be happy and contended with what we have d) Do not sit idle and do our duties without going behind orthodox principles and horoscopes etc. e) Do proper charity as per one's capability f) Keep away the traits like ego, anger, jealously and greed g) Most important is to have faith in god Sai and have patience. Q. What is the attitude of Sai devotees towards raising their children? A. by Devotee Sai devotees never believe that it is they who are raising the children but they have firm belief that it is only baba who is looking after their children . How can a sai devotee think anything himself when his father sai is before him or her . baba gives all the direction ,HE solves every problem ,he diffuses all the confusion , he clears all the doubt and anxiety he is always there when there seems to be all darkness and confusion . Baba's ashirwad seems to be as the light at the end of the tunnel . I myself believe that sai's ashirwad is like a shelter and when I surrender before HIM , HE makes my way quite smooth and relaxed . I have my personal experiences that when ever i am perplexed and sad or worried about my children who are away from home doing their job and studies his thought gives me solace and i feel that his blessing is with me . The moment i feel about HIm Or i put my burden and chinta on HIM immediately i get a soothing hand on my head and all my anxiety vanishes . I have complete faith in HIM and this is my strength.
