Feature
of the week: The miracle of bringing back to life
Once Sai Baba performed a miracle before which all other supernatural powers pale into insignificance. This was to revive the dead. The daughter of the maternal aunt of Vasudeo Sitaram Ratanjanakar, who had come to Shirdi, had this experience. Tuberculosis had developed out of low fever the daughter was getting. As treatment of doctors had proved ineffective, she was being given only udi of Sai Baba as medicine. She also began saying that unless she had the darshan of Sai Baba, she would not get well. Though the girl's condition wad delicate , Ratanjanakar brought her to Shirdi and took her for Sai Baba's darshan. Baba let off a volley of abuses and said, "Let her lie on the kambal (coarse blanket) and keep her on water." Accordingly, she was given only water for seven days and on the eighth day the girl died in the morning when it was time for Sai Baba to wake up. That morning Sai Baba was in chavadi but he did not get up at the usual time. It was eight 0'clock and yet Sai Baba was asleep! It was the first time in the history of Shirdi for Sai Baba to wake up so late. People began attending to the arrangements for the funeral of the girl. The girl's mother and Ratananjanakar's mother were weeping and other devotees were trying to pacify them. Just then the girl made some movement, yawned and looked around bewildered. All were gladdened on seeing this. Then the girl narrated the following account: A black man was forcibly taking her away when she called out to Sai Baba. Immediately Sai Baba belabored the man with his staff, rescued her and took her to chavadi. The girl had not seen chavadi but she described it vividly. While all this was happening in Dikshitwada where Ratananjanakars were staying, people were discussing animatedly why Sai Baba was still asleep. Suddenly, Sai Baba got up in Chavadi, shouting loudly, and striking his staff on the ground, ran in the direction of Dikshitwada. There was excitement all around, and the hearts of the bhakthas (devotees) were filled with joy and wonder at the miracle Sai Baba performed in this mortal world. Article: Importance of Purification All great men have emphasized that the body, mind, intellect and ego have to be purified first for the success of all saadhana. This is because we are unclean due to the effects of past karma. Moreover, we are being taught everyday about the lure and desirability of money, fame, power, and enjoyment. This produces lasting impression on the subtle body which is beyond mind and intellect and which survives physical existence. We have to think in different directions and live a different way of life to smudge the impact of these unwholesome effects. This different way of thought, action and life is called Saadhana. The body is purified on account of selfless service and benevolent acts. This helps in obliterating the impressions of past karmas on mind. When the mind is sublimated, the seeds of devotion can be sown and nurtured within it. The barren and soil of selfish thoughts and deeds is not fit for sowing of seeds of intense love of God. This must be properly understood by the aspirants. Selfishness is a road leading in altogether opposite direction than the road to God or liberation. A man approaches God step by step, when he removes the pains of others, assists men in distress and knows the God inherent in others minds. Similarly, it is essential to install the memory and the idol of God in the heart by incessant recitation of name and meditation on the form. This enables the subtle body (that outlives physical death) to wipe off the imprint of selfishness and to replace it by the image of God (Source: Shri Sai Leela, November 1989)
Rahul Chitkara (South Asia) Being Sunday, they were much eager to have Saibaba's divine Darshan. So, alongwith her family, Roshni went to Baba's Temple and soon after the darshan, she Recovered her Lost Vision. This news spread like a storm and within minutes people gathered at the site in masses. People thronged to the Samadhi Mandir premises to have a glimpse of the said 9yr old girl hailing from Brahminpada, Malegaon. Photographer's and Reporters reached the security office to enquire about the authenticity of the incident. They made a complete enquiry by checking all the Medical Records of Roshni and also came across a reference letter by Dr.Deshpande of Malegaon along with Roshi's C.T.Scan report. This letter was issued by Dr.Girish Rao. The authorities of the Security department had a Telephonic conversation with Dr.Deshpande who confirmed that Roshni Suryawanshi had actually lost her Vision. He had mentioned that she had a normal vision but suddenly lost it for unknown reasons. Fortunately this girl got her vision back as soon as she came out of the Mandir after Baba's Darshan.
