![]() On this holy day it may be worth to reflect the tradition of perfect masters incarnating on earth and their mission. It is said in the Hindu scriptures that the foremost in line of the divine teachers to incarnate on earth is Sri Dattatreya. To enable mankind to realize the ultimate truth which is but difficult to comprehend; the Lord kindly consented to incarnate on earth from time to time. The first and foremost time is considered to be as the son of Anasuya and Sage Atri to fulfill the promise given as a boon to Anasuya. The Lord born to them was called "Datta Atreya", of which the later word is patronymic derived from Atri. Sri Datta, the Lord of the Avadhutas (the naked sages), first taught the highest truth to Sri Parasurama from whom it was passed on to Sri Haritayana and so on. Thus started the lineage of divine teachers on earth. The lord did promise that this tradition would continue till the earth remained in orbit. In the line of divine teachers many names are taken across the world, some very well known and some unknown. But one thing is common to all these divine teachers; they are pretty much self realized, reflect a personality that is very difficult to comprehend, majority of them have their early life shrouded in mystery and their life is dedicated to spiritual evolution of souls that get attracted to them. The tradition of Sri Datta also referred to as "Datta Parampara" continues uninterrupted. Many consider Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi as being in the lineage of Shri Dattatreya. By His life and stories, Shri Sainath did propound the same principles that were first taught by Sri Dattatreya and by many divine teachers since then. Sri Sai Baba's teachings are more geared towards the current age yet the fundamentals remain unchanged. Among the few books Shri Sainath encouraged his devotees to read and listen was Sri Gurucharitra, the book on life and teachings of Shri Dattatreya! Not only did he encourage reading but to one devotee he explained the meaning of it too! When one reads Sri Guruchartitra they will find many parallels in the stories with that in the life of Sri Sainath. It can't be mere coincidence or chance that lead to this! Since time immemorial the fundamental truth remains the same, the same teacher returns to earth as perfect master taking on different forms and teaches the same truth through the thought process and the evolution of human society of that age. Article: God: A Matter of Experience Saibaba's language was truly mystic for he talked back and forth between the Absolute mode and the mode of surrendered servant or even bond slave of the Lord. In the former mode, He made such statements as: "I am formless and everywhere" and, "I look equally on all. Not a leaf moves except my grace". In the latter mode of surrendered instrument of God, he declares:" Without God's permission nothing can be made by me", and "Baba is but phaladata (giver of the fruit or dispenser of the result). However, his message is clear both on fear and hope that if one becomes God's or Saibaba's devotee the one will be under his protective wing and need no fear. If then the devotee has patience, his hopes will be realized and in due course, he will indeed be raised spiritually. This blessing is not to be confused with worldly benefits such as material prosperity, fame, power or even health, although these may in fact occur as by-products. The promise is for the achievement of the Sufi goal of mystical union with God, or the realization that one was never in truth separation from God. Among many quotations in this vein of protection and guidance, Saibaba said: "if you make me the sole object of your thoughts and aims, you will gain paramartha - the supreme goal. Some visitors came to see Saibaba at first merely out of curiosity to see a miracle-worker, and then gradually they started coming to listen to what Saibaba was teaching. Nana Chandorkar, for example, began listening to Saibaba this way, and eventually gained complete confidence that Saibaba did indeed demonstrate the qualities of divinity. Others however, such as Dasganu, although he had great respect for the Saint and had been shown many phenomenal miracles, could never quite come to terms with admitting Saibaba's divinity (when Baba was in flesh and blood). A Sai Devotee A Sai Devotee There is one more wish that Baba has fulfilled. It is for my Jijju..who was looking for the project ..I never asked Baba about my jijju because I thought I don't have to ask Baba as I felt the presence of Baba in my Jijju's home. But since it was taking little more time than expected to get the project, One Thursday I prayed Baba to get the project for my Jijju then I promised I would post my article in the Sai news letter. And again Baba proved that he will fulfill the devotee's wants/needs/Dreams ....and within the next Thursday my jijju said he got a project. Thanks for finding a project locally for your son my jijju. Please forgive me I did not post it on time. I was really trying hard to post it.
