Sai Vichaar sends its best wishes to readers and devotees on this Thursday, Ugadi day. Ugadi is the day observed to commemorate the beginning of the New Year according to certain Hindu calendars. Let us reaffirm our faith in Sainath on this beautiful day, be thankful to Him for what we have and pray for the well-being of those in need. Devotees’ contributions to Prayer Club is truly appreciated. Sainath works His miracles in several ways. Please do send your request for prayers to Sai Vichaar. We hope to see more responses for "Question of the week" feature. This feature is intended to initiate useful discussion on topics related to Sai philosophy and devotion. We also hope to see more use for the Sai activities section. It has been an experience in the past that postings on Sai activities were useful for devotees visiting the web site. This is a good opportunity to spread the word about various activities, celebrations and festivities of Sai centers across the world. Please refer to the particulars of Ugadi and Sri Rama Navami celebrations of Sai centers of New York and Chicago posted in the Sai activities section.
"Question of the week" for this week is
"How is Sri Sai Satcharitha Parayan performed"?
Humbly yours,
The Editor

Feature of the week:
See Sai!!!
\"Those who see Me in everyone and knows Me thus is blessed", said Sai Baba. How does this translate to practical terms? May be this is a yardstick one might use to see how realized they are spiritually. Myth does not allow one to drop everything that he/she acquired at an instance and embark on a spiritual journey or realize Sai in everything that is heard, seen, and felt. While part of the myth is due to the natural orientation the souls with the human body have to endure, significant effects do come from the slips of ignorance even for those who are vigilant. Saadhana should be such that the growth is progressive and the results permanent. It may not come with an ego-driven pursuit of an entity that is hard to explain, much less realized. On the other hand, the goal may lie next waiting to be realized. Shri Sai Satcharitha narrates several incidents supporting the thought that Sai is ubiquitous and some were made to realize this, the episode of Laxmibhai and the dog to cite an example. The principle of non-dual nature of the supreme has never been demonstrated in such simple terms. Blessed are the followers who realize this aspect of Sai tatva. Blessed are those who strive to see His dispensation at every encounter of life, human and other. Blessed are those who see Sai in every being and treat everyone as they would treat Him. Here lies the practical terms of egolessness and humility, very virtues Sainath stands for.

Experiences of Devotees
Shamrao Raoji Shrotrie, Record Keeper, District Court, Thana, Maharashtra. 12th September 1936
I visited Sai Baba at Shirdi only once. That was about 1909. When I went and bowed to Sai Baba, I sat in His presence and then a particular question cropped up in my mind. Baba told me to go to a Bai, saying that she was in the temple reading Puran. I went up and found an elderly Brahmin lady of about 50 years reading Puran. I sat and listened. Therein what she read to me was the answer to what cropped up in my mind when I was in Baba’s presence. This was Baba’s way of giving me a solution.

Devotees say...
Vrinda Kumar, Sydney, Australia
Dear Sai Devotees, Baba never disregards a sincere prayer from the heart of a devotee. This has been my experience. I pray for your son Poonam, Baba will surely bring relief to your son's suffering. Put udi and mix it with water and make your son drink this water everyday. With the blessings of Baba his ailment will disappear. I also pray on the behalf of the others in need, simply recite his name with faith and devotion, and you will find a miraculous end to your sufferings.
A Sai devotee
My dear sister Poonam: I know how difficult it is to keep faith in god especially when we have problems. But that's the only solution. Only faith can solve our problems. Hope these words will help you in reinforcing your faith in God. Nothing can harm those who step in to his masjid. This is one of his 11 sayings. This has been proved many times and being proved every moment. Just now we have in front of us sister Indrani's case. I believe all Baba’s devotees will pray on behalf of you. Baba masjidmai helps her children irrespective of our prayers. As we have seen in every moment of his life devotees worries are his (Baba) worries. Whoever steps in to his masjid his future is assured. God bless you. Good luck.
Mamta, Delhi, India
Dear Poonam: Please have faith in Sai and He will take care of the rest. I can very well imagine what you must be going through and how helpless you must be feeling. I'm sure Sai will surely cure your little son of his illness and he will be absolutely fine. In the mean time we all will pray for your son's fast recovery.
May Sai be with all and especially your son.
Meher
Dear Rebecca, Sai Ram. To your question about unanswered prayers I would like to state my personal observation that "NO PRAYER IS REALLY UNANSWERED". It all depends on how one perceives it. Some people like to think of it as a blessing in disguise as God knows what's really best for them. Many a times you might have noticed that you have wanted a certain thing but got something else instead which in the longer run always proves to be better for you. If one's faith in God is unshaken then they will always see the good in what they receive. Being grateful for all our blessings is also one way of proving our undying faith in God and accepting his favors without question. Since no man is perfect, it is perfectly normal for people's faith to be shaken from time to time in dire circumstances, but the key is to remain on track, be patient and never loose our faith completely. God will always forgive us for our ignorance.
With regard to the person who had a crisis in faith due to the demise of his father I would like to convey to him that death is the ultimate reality to the beginning of life. A departed soul is only away from us till its time for us to rejoin. Many people in this very world do not see each other for several years being separated by boundaries of different nations, similarly are the dead, but one day we are all destined to meet as we are all headed in the same direction.
Reena
This message is to Rebecca, upon the questioning of why all prayers do not get answered. I believe that Baba listens to all our prayers, no prayer is different to Baba. Yet Baba knows what is the best for us. Recently I have been praying continuously to unite myself with a friend who I had broken out with. This still has not happened, and I don't know if it ever will. But I do know that Baba is doing what is best for me. Although me and my friend may not be back together, I am sure that there is a reason for this and that Baba will do the best and stop us from doing something wrong. I still pray to Baba for the loosing out with my friend, and will continue in doing so, but at the end of the day, only that will happen if Baba knows it right.

A Poem
Author: S.P. Sevak
Who art Thou?
Call not thyself, a child of sin,
for thou art the Divine Child.
Thou art the seeds which,
The Lord hath sown.
Awake, arise move towards thy goal.
Neither art thou bad, nor art thou good,
for thou liveth in a realm beyond the reach of both.
Thou exist in the divine space of eternity,
"The manifestation of reality",
Knoweth that thou art the soul,
which was neither born, nor shall it die.
For the soul hath drinketh,
the nectar of immortality.
Call not thyself a sinner,
for no deeds have you done,
thou art the horses,
whom controlleth the divine.
Run not astray,
for thou drowneth in the ocean of desire.
Surrender to the Lord, for the Lord is thy float.
Know thy nature for thou art love,
forget not thyself in the chains of illusion.
Crave not for objects - The cause of delusion.
Realize thyself, the Lord shall help thee.
Chant his name, seek the Lord,
the lord belongs to thee, he lives in thee.
Fear not, for the Lord hath,
revealed the secret - "He is Thee".
Yearn for freedom, crave for God,
thou shalt be saved.
Return to thy source - The ocean of Bliss.
The tide is strong, the road is rough,
despair not for God is thy float.
Waste not time, for time is thy foe,
it waited for none, nor shall it wait for thee.
Meditate on the Lord,
Remember - Thou art Eternal,
thou art Love,
thou art pure, for thou art the soul.
Call not thyself a sinner,
for thou art a glimpse of the Divine, nay, the "Divine".
