Sai Vichaar is mailed to thousands of devotees all over the world every
week. There could be many reasons why one would not receive Sai Vichaar
by email. The reasons might be from the server end or at the receiver
end. The website personnel will not be able to address the problem at
the receiver end. However, if you do not receive Sai Vichaar by email
for more than two weeks in a row, please contact the web site
administrator by email and mention in the subject area: NOT RECEIVING
SAI VICHAAR. The web site personnel will be happy to resolve the problem
at the server end. Reading Sai Vichaar on the web is another
alternative.
The "Question of the week" for this week suggested by a devotee is as
follows, "How do you know Sai has accepted you and has forgiven you? How
do I pray to Him so that He listens to my prayers"?
Humbly Yours,
The Editor

Feature of the week:
Mahaa Bhagath, a matter of fact!
What is needed of those involved in spreading Sai message is humility,
utmost faith in Sadguru and acceptance that He is the wirepuller and the
individuals are mere participants. Humility for a Sai devotee should be
a constant reminder. The association with any image or emotion, even be
sattwic, can only be a form of hindrance to the task. Hemadpanth aptly
wrote that ahankara, the sense of doership in this context, couldn't be
conquered as long as association with any emotion persists. Dasganu was
chided by Baba for setting out like a bridegroom for singing God's
glory. Sai prachaar may not be an elevated state of activity, time bound
and material driven. It happens with the mere intention of sharing
Sadguru's word. Until one truthfully considers himself to be the least
qualified to do the task and realizes that it is providence that
bestowed the blessing, the self remains hindrance to the task.
Baba set up an example by calling Himself a devotee of God. He extolled
the virtues of God, Himself remaining a meek servant. Some say Baba was
'Bhagawad baktha', the devotee of Lord. "Allah maalik", "God is great",
said the God Himself! In the spiritual context, one may ascribe this
attitude of Baba to adwaita, the non-dual nature of the divine, where
Sadguru and Sadbhaktha are one and the same. However, in the context of
spreading God's words, Baba set up an example. If God calls himself a
meek creature, an insect in the dung, where would that place his
followers?
Let this be our reminder as we embark onto the newer phase of
understanding Sai message, by learning and sharing, with humility as a
mater of fact.

Contributed Article: Honest Man Hour
Prior to 1921, His Holiness Pujyasri B.V. Narasimha Swamiji was a normal
person enjoyed the pride of holding Leader of Bar and remained at the
head of legal profession till 1925, Chirman of Salem Co-operative Bank,
Chirman of Salem Municipal Council, Member of Legislative Council and
also interested in tennis and billiards. When comparing these
engagements, most of us too have more or less similar assignments in our
society. Despite Swamiji's busiest daily routine, on the stroke of six
every evening, he would stop his activities in office or sports yard and
go home saying, "the honest man's hour has come, I must go". Friends who
were intrigued at this, later found found out that the "honest man" went
home at that hour regularly to perform his evening pooja and offer
prayers.
The philosophy of "the honest man hour" is meaningful, in this Kali
Yuga, it probably very difficult to be very honest in all aspects. We
should probably evaluate our own schedule and fix up a rigid "honest man
hour" and spend time on our spiritual upliftment. Withdrawal from
temporal (samsara) life may not be that much easy. N.G. Chandorkar vexed
with this samsara life, bowed to Sai Baba, and said: "Enough of this
Samsara for me. Samsara is really nissara i.e., worthless. Break its
fetters off from me, Baba. What first seems to be joy here is seen to be
but sorrow at the end. Fate leads us a nice dance here and there. I
cannot discover even a bit of happiness in this Samsara. I am quite
disgusted, I do not wish to touch it, Baba, any further." Baba replied
to N.G. Chandorkar: " What crazy and delusive talk is yours! There is
some truth in it - mixed with error. As long as the body remains,
samsara remains. None escape it. How can you? Even I am caught up in it.
Samsara is of various sorts. It is like the surface of the body. Kama
(desire) Krodha (anger) etc, and any mixture of these is samsara. All
mental and body process are samsara. By going away to a forest, you
cannot escape samsara. Your present condition has been brought about by
yourself. What is the use of irritation at it? This Deha Prarbdha is the
result of the karma done by you in former births. This body was,
therefore, born. The jiva takes birth in body to work out former karma.
Without suffering the results of Prarbdha Karma, you cannot get rid of
it." Baba's words are clear that samsara is an integral part of our
present life; no doubt, that our efforts on "honest man hour" will help
us to overcome troubles associated in this samsara and overcome our Deha
Prarabdha. Bow to Sri Sai - Peace be to all.

Experiences of Devotees
TKDDCS, Dubai, UAE
This happened on 8 June in Dubai. There is Sai Bhajan fixed in a Hotel
in Dubai on 6th, 7th and 8th organized by a group from India. They
brought Bhajan Group from India (Delhi). I wanted to visit the SatSang.
Somehow, I forgot on Thursday and Friday also. I was doing shopping on
Friday Evening nearby that Hotel But I forgot. Friday Night When I
reached home, I remembered and felt very much for missing the Sai
Bhajans. Saturday, the week starts here (Gulf), I went to office. Then I
remembered about this and thinking myself, when Sayee has come here as a
Bhajan Group from India, after all we don't have time or remember to
attend. We do round all the Dubai good for nothing but we forgot this. I
felt shame on myself. Then the Saturday work was continued. Then I
planned to visit in evening while returning home. I forgot that also.
When I was about to leave office, one of my friends asked me to drop
near his home. I said ok. When we are reaching, his spot he said why
don't u drop me near to that Hotel. When I heard Hotel name "Imperial
suites", I felt like someone hit in my head with a hammer. I realized
about the Bhajan. Then I went and attended the Bhajan and returned home.
Even If I forgot, Sayee made a situation to remember and made me to
visit him. If my friend had not mentioned the hotel name, I might have
gone home straight from there. He has nothing to do near by hotel. This
is a proof of Sayee's love towards his devotees.
A Sai Devotee
It has been over a decade that I took refuge in the feet of Shirdi Sai
Baba. Having lived abroad for 23 years, I have never forgotten visiting
Sai temple in Lodhi Road in Delhi during my visits. In one of the recent
visits when I bowed before Sai Baba, I do not know what happened the
shawl covering Baba, which the purohitji was changing, touched my head.
The thought in my mind that time was: Baba my mother is no more and my
father is in a bad state of health, whom would I go for advice and for
whom I would come to India. I think Baba gave me the answer that he will
always be there in Lodhi temple awaiting me. Similar incident happened
in Shirdi when I was bowing one of the garlands fell from Sai Baba's
MURTI fell on my head. I think if we all think about the theory of
Rinanubandha, it will be clear that all devotees past and present in
some way or the other were in close contact with Baba in His various
births. We all know about the various devotees like Nana, Kharpade,
Mhaslpati, Sapatnekar, Megha, etc who were blessed to have served Baba
were connected in several births of Sai Baba. As for me, I feel that I
must have known Sai Baba in my previous births. If not, how is it
possible that a person like me who was born almost 40 years after the
Samadhi of Baba could have the kind of blessings of Sai Baba as
mentioned in the foregoing. Baba never asked for Sanyas or similar kind
of difficult paths, which some religious leaders asked for. Baba only
asked for SHARDHA and SABURI.I am not a deeply religious person but by
following simple rules of SHARADHA and SABURI I get message from Sai
Baba that He always takes care of me. MY father died in January this
year and now I have taken complete refuge in the feet of Sai Baba. I
have read several books on Sai Baba. It has been a ritual that on my
birthday I start a new book and read at least one Para every morning
before I start my office work. I try not to interrupt this process even
when I am vacationing or when I am traveling and I complete reading the
book by next birthday. This has helped me in getting the feeling that
Sai Baba is always with me through out the entire day. I do not leave my
home with bowing before Sai Baba and I bow again before Him as soon as I
return home. I pray to Sai Baba please keep all devotees together as an
extended family. Internet and this site have helped us to do it now. Sai
Ram.
A Sai Devotee
Yesterday, when I read last week's Sai Vichaar, I felt the need for me
to make a small contribution, but was wondering what experience could I
share! Interestingly, in the afternoon I was called to join a team of
interviewers. We conducted interviews 2 positions that would be hosted
by 2 different institutions. The interviewers were four (2 of my
colleagues and one representative from host institution) and we had four
candidates for each position.
Today, we interviewers met to make the final choice. Our philosophy is
to give weight to the decision of the host institution. Interestingly,
we all agreed on the two best candidates for each position. However,
both the finalists chosen were different from mine. When my opinion was
asked, I said actually the short-listed candidates were all well
qualified and they all could do the job. However, I did express why I
thought that the other candidates were better. One by one all the 3
interviewers countered my argument and I again repeated that in actual
effect, I am confident that their chosen candidates are unlikely to
disappoint the hosts. Still, I kept to my view justifying my reason and
I said that they should sleep over and decide next day. All through this
process, I kept scribbling Sai Baba over the names of the candidates
whom I chose. Amazingly, the representatives of the host institution
called back after a short while and they both decided to change their
opinion and go with my suggestion. We were all so surprised and my two
colleagues wondered how I was able to influence the decision, but I knew
who was behind and silently thanked Sai Baba.

Hi, I am devotee of Sairam, and I listened to Saivani program, it is
really good for devotees like me.
Neil Iyengar, Chicago
Dear Sai Vani Producers, I am a student attending college in Chicago and
I recently listened to the Sai Vani program through the saibaba.org
website. I think Sai Vani is a wonderful program and very educational.
and I am sure Chicago would benefit from this program on the radio.
Pravin Patel, NJ
I have been listening to Sai Vani for the last two weeks on 89.3FM. It
plays at a very convenient time for me on sunday morning at 8am. The
program is very well structured and I really like the content. Now I
eagerly wait for the program all week long.

Dear Krishna, I am a strong Sai devotee. Don't worry if the Sai murti
fell. Sai is within us and he never gets annoyed with his devotees with
his children. The same thing happened with me too. I was In India that
time and my servant while cleaning my side table; he broke the head of
the Sai Baba's murti. I did fix it back and I still have my Baba in my
mandir. Why will Baba get annoyed without any reason? Infact after the
murti broke Baba did a miracle for me.
N. Sivanandam, Coimbatore, India
Beloved Saibandhu, Baba will never get angry with His children, so also
you need not get angry with your child. Your child didn't hit Baba
Mandhir willingly, it happened without any intention. Baba said "Believe
that, Guru is the sole actor or doer" Sri Sai Satcharitram Ch.XVIII,
XIX. There is absolutely no need to worry for that incident. In the life
of Sai Baba, there are so many incidents that Baba sacrificed his health
for the sake of His devotees, and more importantly, Baba sacrificed His
own life and saved Tatya Patil in 1918. Because He loved Tatya very
dearly and very closely attached to him and spent nearly 10 to 11 years
sleeping with him in the Masjid, till he got married. In your case, what
my inner feeling says, Baba saved the life someone, a very important
member in your family against some accident or calamity and sacrificed
His life in your Mandhir. Please visit Shirdi, get new one from His
shrine, and perform your poojas. Baba said, "I am the controller, wire
puller of THE SHOW of this Universe" Sri Sai Satcharitram Ch.III. Hence
whatever happened, it is according to His Will, our duty is to follow
Baba's advice "standing on your place look on calmly at THE SHOW of all
things passing before you" SSS Ch. XVIII, XIX.

I wanted to tell that sometimes I just don't receive the SAI VICHAR to
my mail account. And that time I become very restless. This is the
second time it happened. I don't know whom should I contact. Please make
sure that everybody listed are getting the SAI VICHAR for sure. I wait
whole week just for that and it makes me immensely happy because I feel
Baba has come to me. SAI please be with me. I don't have an option but
you. Please take care of this.
A Sai devotee
Dear Sonia, I can understand what mental tensions and pain you must be
going through. Please don't worry. Baba is with you as with all of us.
My heartfelt prayers will be with you and your father .He will recover
soon. Have faith in Baba.

you guys with Kids. If possible, Read SaiAmrithaVani and take blessings
of SriShiridiSaiNatha.
Swati Pai
For my entire fellow Sai Bandhus who are going through difficult times.
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we are very helpless and
feel that if at all someone can help us out it is our Lord, our Sai.
Then, He too seems to be sitting quiet watching us struggling leaving us
in doubt whether He has forsaken us. But it is not so. It is Baba's
assurance to all His devotees that once he takes you in His fold, do
whatever you may, He will never forsake you. Believe in this fact that
He is with you always in your sorrow or happiness and you will realize
His presence. So, devotees, please have full-hearted faith and devotion
in Him. Here is a story I came across and felt motivated. Sharing it
with you.
A group of women was studying the Book of Malachi. They came to verse
three of chapter three, which says, "He will sit as a refiner and
purifier of silver." This verse puzzled the women. They wondered what
they could learn from it about the character and nature of God. One of
the women offered to find out about the process of refining silver and
report to the group at their next Bible study.
She phoned a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him work. She
didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest other than her
curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched, the
silversmith held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He
explained that he needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire,
where the flames are hottest, in order to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us where the "flames" are hottest.
She remembered that the verse says He "sits" as a refiner and purifier
of silver, so she asked the silversmith if it's true that he has to sit
by the fire the whole time the silver is being refined.
The man answered that, yes, he not only has to sit there holding the
silver, but he must keep his eyes on it the entire time because if it is
left even a moment too long in the flames, it will be destroyed. The
woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked, "How do you know when the
silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and said, "Oh, that's
easy--when I can see my image in it." If today you are feeling the heat
of the fire, remember that God will not take His eyes off you, nor will
He leave you there a moment too long. He is nearby, watching you
carefully waiting ... to see His image in you.

I was a very successful Businessman in Mumbai who made millions and
employed a large staff. Due to my over trusting people, I was cheated by
own staff and I have to pay the price. I was accused for so many deeds
of which I was not even aware. Today every breath of mine pains me for I
never imagined in my wildest of dreams that one day I will have to work
as an employee again. I know it well on its own I will not get my lost
empire. But I hardly have any money, for my present earnings go in
repaying the debts committed on my name by some one else. To the best of
my conscience, I have neither cheated nor intended to cheat any one.
Will I ever get my lost empire? Will any Baba devotee speak or will Baba
ever will reply to my pains?

"What is yours remains with you. What is of others will remain with

Question of the Week
Q. Does one need to give up his Guru if one wants to pray to Baba? Or
should the devotee of another Guru not pray to Baba?
A. by S.V.Swamy
Sai Ram. Shri Hemadpant's Sai Satcharitra is our authority for an answer
to the question. Right in the first chapter, Shri Hemadpant asserts that
Sai is one with Ganesh, Saraswati, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva etc. When Sai is
one with all these Gods, who are different aspects of the Nirgun Para
Brahma, can He be different from other Gurus?
Let us refer to Chapter 11. Dr.Pandit worshipped Sai by applying Sandal
paste to His forehead in the form of Tripundra, three horizontal lines.
When questioned why He allowed Dr.Pandit, when He did not allow others,
Baba replied: "Dr.Pandit believed Him to be the same as his Guru,
Raghunath Maharaj of Dhopeshwar, known as Kaka Puranik; and he applied
the paste to His forehead, as he was doing to his Guru. Hence, He could
not object." On enquiry, Dr.Pandit confirmed the same.
Next let us turn our attention to Chapter 12 of Satcharitra. Mule
Shastri was an orthodox Agnihotri Brahmin of Nasik. His Guru was Sri
Gholap Swami. When He went to Shirdi, he thought that Sai Baba was no
doubt a great Saint but was a Muslim. To remove his misunderstanding,
Baba showed a miracle that day. He appeared as Guru Gholap to Sri Mule
Shastri, while continuing to appear as Sai Baba to others at Arati time.
So, Mule Shastri was convinced that Sai was one with his late Guru. "He
said that his doubt Was removed and he saw his own Guru."
In the same chapter, the story of a doctor who came to Shirdi with a
firm resolve not to bow to Baba, because he was a bhakta of Ram and he
would not bow to a Muslim, is related. The doctor sees his beloved Deity
Ram in the place of Baba, goes ahead, and prostrates before Him. In
Chapter 14 of SAI SATCHARITRA, the story of Ratanji Wadia of Nanded is
related. The party given to Moulisaheb, the porter saint of Nanded, was
acknowledged by Baba, showing His oneness with him! He showed His
oneness with the Kanarese Saint Appa, in Chapter 21, when He told
Mr.Thakur, what the other Saint told him many years ago.
Chapter 26 tells us of Bhakta Pant, who took permission of his Sadguru
to visit Baba. When he reaches His presence, he gets a fit and becomes
unconscious. By Baba's grace and by bucketfuls of water poured over his
head, he is soon revived. "The Omniscient Baba, knowing that, he was a
disciple of another Guru, assured him fearlessness and confirmed his
faith in his own Guru, by addressing him as follows: 'Come what may,
leave not; but stick to your bolster (support, i.e. Guru) and ever
remain steady, always at-one-ment (in union) with him." Pant, at once,
knew the significance of this remark, and thus, he was reminded of his
Sadguru. This kindness of Baba, he never forgot in his life."
Chapter 29 is pure nectar. The story of Chennai Bhajan Mela, the husband
who is a disciple of Sant Ramadas and how he sees his own Guru in Sri
Sai, in his dream and is thus freed from the shackles of avarice for
money, brought tears to me. If proof is needed, here is one! In
addition, Baba appearing as Ram to the Ramadasi's wife, who was
relatively satvik, is yet another lesson in the spiritual oneness of all
Saints Gods and Goddesses!
Chapter 33 describes the story of Haribhau Karnik who wanted to offer
one more rupee as dakshina to Baba, after getting His permission to
leave. Shama signals to him that he should leave and not turn back. But
Baba did not disappoint Karnik and collected His rupee through saint
Narsing Maharaj at Kala Ram temple, Nasik!
By the above, if one gets an impression that all Gurus are One, one is
right. But should then one leave one's Guru when He wants to go to Baba?
No. One should go to Baba or any other Saint, God, with devotion, with
respect, with the firm faith that all of them are manifestations of the
same Absolute SATCHITANANDA. In fact, Baba conveys to Sri Nanasaheb
Chandorkar in Chapter 39&50 that not only all Gurus are one; the Guru
and Sishya are one! Only the sishya feels he is different from his Guru
due to ignorance accumulated over countless births, to be removed by the
teachings of Guru, spread over many births!
But at the same time, Baba cautioned that, "There are innumerable saints
in this world; but 'our father' (Guru) is the Father (Real Guru). Others
might say many good things; but we should never forget our Guru's words.
In short, love your Guru whole-heartedly, surrender to Him completely
and prostrate yourselves before Him reverentially; and then, you will
see that, there is no sea of the mundane existence, before you to cross,
as there is no darkness for the Sun." (Chapter 45 - Kakasaheb's doubt
and Anandarao's vision, page 234) I think that sums up the issue. In
addition, for those, who are familiar with Sri Guru Charitra, the above
lessons are reinforced by many incidents described therein. Sai Ram.
A. by Shyamala Hari
Satcharitra answers the first question in the story of Pant. Pant had a
Guru before he saw Baba. He took the permission of his Guru to go to
Shirdi and went to see Baba along with some friends. When they had
Baba's Dharshan, they were all pleased but Pant suddenly got a fit and
fell senseless. With Baba's grace when he regained consciousness, Baba
told him not to be afraid and reaffirmed his faith in his own Guru
saying "Come what may, leave not, but stick to your bolster (support,
i.e. Guru) and ever remain steady, always in union with him." Pant
understood this remark and thought of his Sad-guru. This kindness of
Baba he never forgot in his life. So, one need not give up one's Guru
because he wants to pray to Baba. Baba also answered the second
question. When devotees of other Gurus approached Baba, they saw their
Gurus in Him. Devotees of Akkalkot Maharaj saw the Maharaj in Him.
Moolay Shastri, an orthodox brahmin who in the beginning, would not bow
to Baba because He was a Moslem, saw his Guru Gholap in Him with His
grace. Dr Pandit saw his Guru Kaka Puranik in Him. Devotees of Rama saw
Rama in Him. Devotees of Shiva saw Shiva in Him and so on. So, one can
pray to Baba while already following a Guru because it is the same thing
as praying to one's own Guru. Devotees of other Gurus need not have any
doubts about praying to Baba and need not give up their Gurus to pray to
Baba because Baba is the same as any other Sadguru.
