What is "Shirdi Sai Chitra Yatra"?
A. Shirdi Sai Chitra Yatra is a ceremonial travel of Sai Baba in the form of a portrait all across USA. The Yatra will have stops at participating devotees' home. The purpose of this Yatra is,
· To invoke a nationwide prayer for peace and prosperity of all devotees and community at large.
· To promote active participation in Sai activities
· To have an opportunity to personally serve Baba to the extent each one of us can.
· To Seek Baba's grace in the convenience of one's home in the way one wants with devotion and love and without rigid rules.
· To involve in a community event that will bring happiness and peace to one and all.

A. The event is being organized to invoke Lord Sainath's grace and bring peace and happiness to the devotees and the community at large.

An anchor home will receive Baba's portrait and accompanying material such as books, from saibaba.org and will be responsible for keeping until the designated time. Will help to propagate the message to others in the community by letting friends and family know about the Yatra to enable them to be a Host home. Send and receive portrait to and from Host homes. Take care of Baba with love and devotion as long as Baba has to stay in the Anchor home till it is time to go to another Anchor home or to be returned to Chicago. TOP What is the role of a host? A. Host Home: Participate by being Host to Baba. Baba's picture can be brought from an Chitra Yatra Anchor Home close to you and return the picture to the Anchor home. Prayers can be offered either alone or in groups in whatever way one pleases. Help and guidance is available for those who want to perform archana, arathis, bhajans, parayan, and such activities although it is not necessary. One can spend time in meditation while the picture is at home.

What is the role of a volunteer?
A. Volunteer: Good for single people who don't have the inclination for sitting down in prayer but would volunteer themselves at prayer meeting in other Baba devotees home or volunteer to drive Baba's picture from place to place or distribute flyers and posters to the community via Local Grocers, temples in your area.
What is the role of a Donor?
A. Donor: Good for people who can't participate any other way than voluntarily contributing financial support for the event. This is not a fund raising activity but if this is the only way that someone can participate, we do not want to exclude them. All donations are tax deductible.
What is the role of an Attendee?
A. An attendee can attend any function being organized by a host home or an anchor home in your area.
I(we) do not know anything about Shirdi Sai Baba, Can I(we) still participate?
A. Yes. To know more about Sai Baba read Shri Sai Satcharita the most authentic account of the life and teachings of Sai Baba started and personally blessed by Baba during his mortal stay in Shirdi. If you do not have a copy you can access the online copy at Sai Satcharita.
I(we) already have Baba's picture or idol. Do I(we) need another picture?
A. Yes. By bringing the portrait of Baba to your home, you are participating in the Yatra (journey).
I(we) want to invite my friends who do not know about Baba, Can I(we)?
A. Yes you can. Baba stood for Universal peace and supported all religions and creatures besides Human beings. Hence, anchors, volunteers and every participant is urged to use this event to propagate the religious tolerance and universal peace Baba strived for.
When will I(we) receive Baba's picture?
A. If you have signed up as an Anchor home, you will receive the picture from saibaba.org in January 2002. If you are a host home you should coordinate with the Anchor home assigned to you or send us an email.
Will I(we) receive any guidance and help if I(we) participate?
A. Yes help is available. Contact us either by email or phone
How long can I(we) keep the picture?
A. There is no fixed time line, but it will be driven by the response and the number of participants who would like to invite Baba. An Anchor home have the picture for a prolonged time. An host home will have to work out the time limits for the anchor home from where they will receive the Portrait.
How will the picture arrive at my(our) home?
A. If you are a host home, you will receive the contact name of the Anchor home from where you can get the portrait. If you are an Anchor home, you will receive the portrait directly from Saibaba.org starting Jan 1, 2002.
Can I(we) send write ups of our participaton in the Yatra and/or Will you include those on the web site?
A. Yes, events and experiences will be shared through Sai Vichaar and this web site as time and resources permit.
Is group prayers possible?
A. Yes, The anchor home or the host home will be responsible for organizing the group prayers. Please ensure that for group meetings in public places all laws which are civic, local, state, federal are complied with as required.

Why is there picture of only Shirdi Sai Baba?
A. This event is restricted to invoke grace and blessings of Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi. As is customary, when praying or invoking grace it is done to one deity or Avatar only. You are welcome to offer prayers to the Avatar of your choice at other times, but for this event Shirdi Sai Baba of Shirdi is the presiding deity and only that Avatar's pictures will be used for the purpose of the Yatra.
